Unwoman, Jinn and Rasan Piya among Champions of Creativity at Aravali International Film Festival Awards Ceremony 2024

New Delhi (India), April 8: The 5th edition of the Aravali International Film Festival concluded with a glittering awards ceremony.  Organized in collaboration with Alliance Francaise de Delhi, the festival brought together filmmakers, enthusiasts, and industry professionals to celebrate diverse narratives and creative expressions.

The awards ceremony, held at M.L. Bhartia Auditorium, recognized remarkable achievements across various thematic categories. “Unwoman” directed by Pallavi Roy was awarded the Best Film under the LGBTQIA+ Theme, while “Rasan Piya” directed by Niharika Popli claimed the Best Film under the Threads of Time Theme. Other notable winners include “Jinn” directed by Hamid Baig for the Best Film under Treading the Unknown Theme, and “Gadad” directed by Komal Bagul for the Best Film under Invisible Struggles Theme.

French cinema received accolades with “Flip Flop” directed by Martin Baillon, Pierre Lavalette, and “Ink Drop” directed by Alexandres Osmoze Brakha winning the Best French Short Films category. Additionally, “BETELGEUSE” by Sunder Konar was awarded the Best Monthly Screening Indian Film.

The event featured captivating musical performances by renowned singer Virendra Singh Rahi and his team, adding to the festive atmosphere. In addition to screenings and awards, the festival hosted three workshops on filmmaking skills, providing valuable insights and learning opportunities for aspiring filmmakers. The workshops were conducted by filmmakers Pallavi Roy and Hamid Baig in addition to well-known Niharika Singh who is a visiting faculty of acting in the prestigious National School of Drama. These workshops were very well received by the participants.

Dr. Avnish Rajvanshi, Director of AIFF, and Stephan Alamir, Director of AFD expressed gratitude for the successful collaboration and promised to continue their partnership for the next editions of the festival  They also affirmed their commitment to regular monthly screenings of selected films, further promoting cultural exchange and cinematic excellence
